Traveling workouts

With more people traveling for business and pleasure than ever, the greater the need to learn how to exercise effectively while away from home.

The trip should not bring your fitness program to a grind. Be creative in your exercise choices, be realistic and manage your time more effectively no matter how busy your journey.

Research shows that 4 x 15 minute exercise sessions are just as effective as 1 x 60 minute sessions. The end result – more efficient use of your time, greater energy expenditure, increased metabolism four times instead of one and a normal production of happy hormones and endorphins all day long to keep you working, in a good spirit and mental alertness.

So how does this relate to exercise? Before breakfast, put your trainers on and hit the gym for 10 minutes of running and stretching, or go for a swim. After lunch walk for 15 minutes around the hotel. This will also help with the digestion process so that you do not feel full when you return to work. Once you are done, hit the gym for a quick 15-20 minute circuit of strength training. Circuit training will ensure that your heart rate stays high, maximizing your energy costs, completing your workout in less time and creating a new response to your physical ability to adapt and respond. Forget 3 sets of 10. If you have access to a gym, work through all of your workouts each time, alternating muscle groups. Then tap the shower to get ready for your dinner commitment. It's really that easy!

You need to be disciplined to do it for the first time, but once you try it, it will become just as common with cleaning your teeth – and you'll feel fantastic!

Here are some other tips to increase your physical activity while traveling in business:

o Schedule your workout sessions as you would in business appointments. They are just as important and essential to your well-being, especially when traveling in business.

o Irritate colleagues while walking instead of in a meeting room

o Walk to the airport while waiting to board the plane.

o Walk instead of taking the escalator, you will find that you get there faster than those who ride!

o Take the stairs instead of the elevator, or descend a few floors early and walk the rest of the way.

o Pack the resistance pipes.

o Pack your jump rope.

Try these simple but very effective steps to maximize your activity, productivity, and performance while traveling the business.

Good luck with your future fitness efforts.

Yours in health,

Daniel Remon.
