A silent epidemic
takes center stage
Fact: Diabetes kills more people worldwide each year than AIDS, breast cancer, and prostate cancer combined. Fact: There are currently
around 144 million
diabetics in the world. Fact: The problem is
getting worse—much
worse. The World Health
Organization predicts that
this number could more
than double to a
staggering 300 million
people within 25 years.

Why is this happening? And what can be done to stop it? Two scientists from the Joslin Diabetes Center speak out about a silent killer.
