Colombian nursing makes great strides with HMI program
In March 2002, the nursing department at St. Vincent de Paul University Hospital in Medellín, Colombia, organized a critical care nursing conference for over 300 nurses in Colombia, the first conference of its kind in Colombia. This event was one of several actions the major teaching hospital has taken to advance nursing leadership and education as part of a nearly two-year alliance with HMI and the Institute for Nursing Healthcare Leadership.

 
 

Giving medical students an early dose of clinical practice
Harvard Medical School’s Patient-Doctor course gives students early experiences with patient care. Now, faculty at Carl Gustav Carus Technical University Dresden (TUD) are looking to do the same, as part of an extensive curriculum reform program in Germany. During a recent visit to Boston, several faculty members from Dresden observed sessions of Patient-Doctor II and talked about how they could reinvigorate their own clinical teaching.

 
 

An enduring partnership in India continues to spark exchange
When Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute approached HMI in 1997 to form a partnership, it had some ambitious goals. Since then, the alliance has brought fruitful student and faculty exchanges, and a focus on research and institutional growth.
